Programs in this Core Program Area enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve success in a career. Programs and activities include:
POWER HOUR
Helps Club members ages 5-18 achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.
Career Launch
This fun and exciting program prepares teens for the working world. Club teens 13-18 years old embark on a journey to explore careers, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.
Money Matters
Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13-18 by building their basic money management skills. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save and invest. They also learn about starting small businesses and paying for college.
STEM
STEM brings all the fun of scientific exploration into members hands as they work with peers to create cool artifacts that demonstrate scientific principles!
Summer Brain Gain
Summer Brain Gain is a fun, educational program that aims to prevent summer learning loss and keep kids on track for the coming school year.


Workforce Readiness
BGCS will teach young people about judgment, creativity, decision-making, communication, and collaboration. The workforce of today requires more people to be adequately prepared for STEM-based, healthcare and human service careers as well as skilled trade positions. The four workforce readiness pillars of preparation: Essential Skill Development, Career Exploration, Employability and Certifications, and Work-Based Learning help young people to articulate and achieve their plans for the future. From the time youth enter the Club through graduation, programs and experiences focus on skill development and career exploration, providing opportunities for all youth to connect their passions and talents to careers, gain new skills and access real-life work experiences.
